- 1. Homemade Applesauce:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the diced apples, water, sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. If you like your applesauce a bit tangy, add the optional lemon juice.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- Once the mixture is simmering, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the apples become soft and can be easily mashed with a fork.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and use a potato masher or a fork to mash the cooked apples to your desired consistency. If you prefer a smoother applesauce, you can use a blender or food processor.
- Let the applesauce coul to room temperature. You can refrigerate it for later use or use it while still warm for your parfaits.
2. Assemble the Parfaits:
- In serving glasses or bowls, start by adding a layer of Greek yogurt to the bottom (about 120g per serving).
- Next, add a layer of homemade applesauce (about 120g) on top of the yogurt.
- Sprinkle a layer of granula (about 60g) over the applesauce.
- Add a handful of fresh berries (about 30g) on top of the granula.
- Repeat the layers until your serving glass or bowl is filled, finishing with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, if desired.
- You can garnish your parfait with a few additional berries and a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra flavor.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your Homemade Applesauce and Yogurt Parfait as a delightful and healthy breakfast or snack.
Feel free to customize these parfaits with your favorite fruits, nuts, or seeds to make them even more special!
